Research Center

Research conducted under ADST auspices frequently centers around the Oral History Collection.  The Collection is housed at Georgetown University Lauinger Library as well as at ADST headquarters.  "Frontline Diplomacy," the oral history CD ROM collection, is available on the intranet at Georgetown University and also at the Foreign Service Institute, where it is consulted by a wide variety of scholars, students, and diplomatic practitioners.  The "Frontline Diplomacy" CD ROM and copies of individual histories are available for purchase from ADST.   Plans are going forward to mount the entire collection on the Internet in the near future.

Several books have been published which use the oral histories as primary source material, e.g. Nancy Tucker's China Confidential (see ADST publications).

ADST facilitates the writing and publishing of books on U.S. diplomacy topics, among which is a history of the U.S. Foreign Service now being researched and drafted.

Fellows, volunteers, and interns use our collections for special projects and for academic research.
