Your Legacy, Our History: Supporting ADST
The Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training (ADST) depends on the generosity of our supporters to continue our work of capturing, preserving, and sharing the experiences of the U.S. foreign affairs community in support of our mission to strengthen appreciation for diplomacy and its practitioners.
By including ADST in your long-term financial planning, you ensure that the “oral history of American diplomacy” remains a vibrant resource for students, researchers, and future practitioners.
Ways to Leave Your Mark

- Bequests in Your Will or Trust: One of the simplest ways to give is to include a provision in your will or living trust. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your assets after other obligations are met.
- Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): If you have a Donor-Advised Fund, you can recommend a grant to ADST at any time. You can also name ADST as the succession beneficiary of your DAF, ensuring your commitment to diplomacy continues beyond your lifetime.
- Retirement Plan Assets: Naming ADST as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or 403(b) is often more tax-efficient than leaving these assets to heirs, as it may reduce estate and income taxes.
- Life Insurance: You can designate ADST as the primary or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy you no longer need for its original purpose.
Why Give to ADST?
Your gift directly funds the recording of new oral histories, the publication of the Memoirs and Occasional Papers Series, and the maintenance of our digital archives.
“Preserving the past is the best way to prepare for the future. Your gift ensures that the legacy and the lessons of American diplomacy are never lost.”
