The Fulbright Association, established in 1977, is an independent non-profit and the American alumni organization of the Fulbright Program. Since its inception in 1946, Fulbright scholarships have facilitated over 400,000 academic and professional exchanges across 165 countries, promoting cultural understanding and reducing conflict. With 54 local chapters, the Association furthers the Fulbright mission by connecting global Fulbrighters and their ideas, supporting career development and mentorship, and advocating for the future of the Fulbright Program.

“…the Fulbright is an incredible international exchange program, but it’s also the United States’ best and most cost-effective national security tool to outcompete China in this global struggle of hearts and minds.” – Leland Lazarus, Served in Panama
The Fulbright Association Interview Collection

ADST is collaborating with The Fulbright Association to capture interviews to narrate the contributions of Fulbright recipients to promoting American interests abroad as well as making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. The first group of interviews come from the #StandforFulbright Night of Champions event and focus on sharing stories about their Fulbright experiences and how that impacted their organization, the country they were in, and the United States. The second group of interviews will be conducted at the 48th Annual Fulbright Conference: United We Stand where participants look to unite, amplify their collective voice, and champion a future where mutual understanding continues to thrive.

“Q: What does Fulbright mean to you?
LOPEZ: A bunch of things come to mind. One is international prosperity, American prosperity. It means peaceful relations internationally. The coming together of ideas to make not just one country or another or even a group of countries better, but to make the world a better place.” – Eric Lopez, Served in Hungary
